After a brief unavailability of the sold-out Škoda Kamiq 85TSI, the Simply Clever brand is returning the turbocharged three-cylinder engine to Australia in new form: Kamiq 85TSI Style.
Available with a seven-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) only in response to overwhelming customer preference, the Kamiq 85TSI Style delivers 200Nm of torque from 2000rpm to 3500rpm plus 85kW at 5500rpm.
The 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine has been praised internationally for its lower reciprocating mass compared with a four-cylinder and its blend of effortless low-rev torque with low emissions.
Combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.4 litres per 100 kilometres compares favourably with several $35,000-$40,000 driveaway rivals – the Honda HR-V Vi X (5.8 l/100km), Hyundai Kona Elite (6.2 l/100km), Kia Seltos Sport+ CVT (6.8l /100km), Mazda CX-3 sTouring (6.3 l/100km) and Nissan Juke ST-L (5.8 l/100km). Of course, with an Australian Škoda , there is no ‘entry’ model – and all three grades offer an extremely high level of specification relative to the competitors.
The Kamiq 85TSI Style includes 18-inch CRATER alloy wheels, LED headlights and tail-lights with animated turn signal, Front Assist with City Emergency Brake, rear manouvre braking assist, rear parking sensors, Lane Assist, adaptive cruise control, 7 airbags, advanced keyless entry including Smart Start, electric tailgate, door-mounted umbrella, electric heated and folding door mirrors with driver’s auto dimming, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, light assist, rain-sensing wipers, tyre pressure monitoring system, privacy glass, floor mats, double-sided luggage mat, leather steering wheel, ambient lighting, dual-zone ‘Climatronic’ air-conditioning, Virtual Cockpit, 8.0-inch central infotainment screen, reversing camera, Smartlink smartphone mirroring and wireless phone charging. The Kamiq 110TSI Monte Carlo continues with a 110kW/250Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine – featuring 18-inch VEGA alloy wheels, sporty black exterior highlights, Drive Mode Select, 15mm-lower sports suspension, adaptive front light system with cornering lights, animated front turn signals, Monte Carlo sports seats and sports pedals, plus a panoramic glass roof. The Monte Carlo features a great value Travel Pack worth $7,750 RRP, but discounted by 45% to a $4,300 option.
It features front parking sensors, Park Assist, Side Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, heated front and rear-outboard seats, heated steering wheel with DSG paddles, 9.2-inch central infotainment screen with satellite navigation, wireless smartphone mirroring, a Škoda sound system and voice control. The Kamiq 110TSI Signature bundles key Travel Pack features plus leather/suedia upholstery, silver roof rails, and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. A panoramic roof is a $1,300 option on all variants. Candy White is standard and metallic or pearl effect paints are $550. Velvet Red is an additional $1,100. For maximum peace of mind a 3yr/45,000km service pack costs just $800.
A 5yr/60,000km service pack costs $1,500 and a 7yr/105,00km pack costs $2,100. Customers can choose the flexibility of servicing subscriptions, or they can choose a 3yr pack and later upgrade to a 5yr/7yr pack for the difference. All new Škoda's come with a five year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
